Interactive Bagua Map
The Bagua divides a home into nine areas. Rotate North, switch schools, move the front door — and see exactly which rooms land in Wealth, Relationships or Career.
The nine areas (Compass School)
The Later Heaven arrangement used by Compass School links each direction to a trigram, an element and a life area:
| Direction | Trigram | Area | Element |
|---|---|---|---|
| North | Kan 坎 | Career | Water |
| North-East | Gen 艮 | Knowledge | Earth |
| East | Zhen 震 | Family | Wood |
| South-East | Xun 巽 | Wealth | Wood |
| South | Li 离 | Fame | Fire |
| South-West | Kun 坤 | Relationships | Earth |
| West | Dui 兑 | Children | Metal |
| North-West | Qian 乾 | Helpful People | Metal |
| Centre | Tai Chi 中 | Health | Earth |
Two ways to cut the plan
The 9-grid (Lo Shu) method stretches a tic-tac-toe grid over the home’s outline — tidy for rectangular homes. The 8 wedges method draws 45° slices from the centre point, which some practitioners prefer for irregular or angled plans. The explorer lets you compare both; your choice carries into your own home.

Questions
What is the difference between Compass School and BTB Bagua?+
Compass School places the eight trigrams by real compass direction (Wealth is always South-East). BTB, or Black Hat, aligns a 3×3 grid to the wall with the front door, so Career is always at the door. They are different traditions; choose one and apply it consistently.
Where do I put the Bagua on my floor plan?+
Over the whole footprint of the home, including attached rooms you live in. The centre is the middle of the footprint. The floor-plan page shows how irregular shapes are handled.
Where is the Wealth corner?+
In Compass School it is the South-East sector. In BTB it is the far-left corner when you stand at the front door looking in.
Do I need to know North?+
For Compass School, yes — the dial in the map above shows why. BTB only needs the front door.
